Domestic Media Room..

A Media Room In Need Of Re-Configuration & Upgrade.

Media Room

The owners of the property had specified a Cinema/ Media Room to building contractors who didn't have the experience necessary to carry out the task appropriately. O.S Electrical were called in to rescue the install and help it realise its full potential.

The Media Room wiring and layout were the biggest issue. When we arrived the Audio Visual equipment was in the middle of the room, balanced on various tables with wires running along the floor to all the relevant equipment. We re-routed and rewired all of the cables behind the walls to a side room and housed the equipment in an AV Rack out of the way.

The speakers were mounted on the wall in the correct 5.1 layout. The projector was connected to a ceiling mount and cabling was via a 1080p HDMI HD BaseT Balun.

Lighting

The Clipsal C-Bus Lighting Control System had wiring issues and the light switches weren't configured to give the correct switching layouts. Using the C-Bus Software we brought the configuration up to the needs of the client enabling them to have various 'Film' scenes to allow the correct mood lighting for watching movies.

AV Rack

To this a Dune HD Network player, Apple TV, Gigabit Switch and Logitech Harmony Ultimate Control System was added to the system to allow a vast array of media to be accessed.

The Apple TV allows rented/ purchased Movies, TV Shows and Music to be accessed via the iTunes Store.

The Dune HD player allows all stored Music, DVDs and Blu Ray content to be accessed from its internal 3TB hard drive or accessed from anywhere on the network, it also allows you to stream the content to any iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch).

Controller

To control all of these sources and their various different configurations would be very difficult without a simple to use remote and control system, a Logitech Harmony Ultimate was installed which uses a graphical touch screen hand held remote to control all of the equipment.
